What a hot and thirsty night for The Star Quiz last night! The charity was for Guiding Light, a youth-based group which puts on plays for good causes. Fourteen teams took part, thirteen of which had booked their numbers properly and with decorum. I won’t say which team didn’t, but their spokesman and organiser said, “I’m sorry, and I want to be very clear about that – I forgot.”
Apparently, it was a very tough quiz. Queen St Runners were outraged at the True or False question: “In Romania, on the stroke of midnight, men looking for love jump off their chair shouting their name.” When Gordon was jumping up and down, they thought he was giving them a clue and wrote True – but actually, his leg had gone into cramp!
Thank you to Rachel for organising the money, raffle, and entrance fee. We raised £232.95 for their funds. Well done to Sammy and Erin for working so hard in the sweltering heat pulling pints. Thank you also to John Hobbs for the music round, which was a bit tricky! Geddington Goers found it easy, scoring 35 points in that round and making them the winners.
1st – Geddington Goers with 83 points
2nd – Stoite Twange with 79 points
3rd – Motley Cru with 76 points
4th equal – BBJS and Queen St Runners with 75 points
The next quiz is on Tuesday 26th August and is in aid of the Queen Eleanor Cycle Ride – a hugely worthwhile charity for homelessness.
