Support Available for Unpaid Carers

Do you support someone with a disability or long-term health condition?

Northamptonshire Carers, in partnership with North Northamptonshire Council (NNC) and West Northamptonshire Council (WNC), is running a series of One Stop Shop events across the county to provide information and support to unpaid carers. These events are funded by the Accelerating Reform Fund and aim to reach those in our communities who provide care for others but may not realize they are carers.

Carers are individuals who provide unpaid support to family members, friends, or neighbors living with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or other long-term conditions. Many carers are unaware of the resources available to them, which can help them maintain their health, access training, or connect with local groups to combat isolation.

What Support is Available?

The One Stop Shop Roadshow is designed to provide carers with access to resources and advice, including:

• Guidance on accessing benefits and carers’ assessments.
• Information about equipment and support for specific conditions, such as dementia or diabetes.
• Help with accessing online training and local support groups.
• Specialized support for parents of children with special educational needs (SEN).
• Resources for carers balancing work and caregiving responsibilities.
• Advice for those caring for minority groups or managing cultural sensitivities.
• Assistance with what happens after a caring role ends.

Whether you care for someone for an hour a week or provide 24/7 support, these events are here to help.

Upcoming Event: Corby Library

The next One Stop Shop event will be held at Corby Library on Saturday, 15th March 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with support services and learn more about what is available to you as a carer. For more details, visit the event page.
