Geddington Amazing Millennium Experience – 1999

25 years ago, Geddington village saw the biggest party it had ever held in living memory. It celebrated the beginning of the new millennium – the year 2000 or, as it was better known then, Y2K.

Now, we need your help to remember it!

The party was called the Geddington Amazing Millennium Experience, GAME for short, and that night saw nearly 350 adults and 70 children squeeze into two very large marquees and one smaller one, taking up all the space in the Village Hall car park, and all seated at 26 long trestle tables.

Geddington.net is going to recall that event with all the documents and information necessary for such a large project.

However, whilst the treasurer (that’s me, Pam Hopkins, or Pam Dennis as I was then) has kept all the records, I don’t have any photographs. Difficult to remember, but mobile phones didn’t take images then and anyway, I, along with all the other organisers, were too busy:

  • Erecting the marques
  • Lining and decorating the marquees and Village Hall
  • Installing all the tables and chairs
  • Setting up the fireworks
  • And a myriad of other jobs

then

  • Shoe-horning people into the marquee,
  • So much to do and not enough time to take pictures.
If you were there, you may remember having one of these. The badge was your entry ticket, no badge, no entry!

I am asking if anybody reading this has:

1) photographs as .jpgs or the old-fashioned printed version?
or
2) memories they care to share?

If so please contact us at
