The July minutes of the Geddington, Newton, and Little Oakley Parish Council are now available, though they were delayed as they could not be approved until the September meeting. This occurs annually because there is typically no Parish Council meeting in August.
Key topics discussed at the July meeting included:
- Stone Pit Lease Issues: The ongoing delays in finalizing the leases for the Youth Club and GVFB were a primary concern. Despite submitting the required information to Tollers Solicitors in June, the leases had yet to be drafted.
- Defibrillator Maintenance and Service Agreement: Maintenance of the village defibrillators was reviewed, with a focus on the defibrillator owned by the Community Heartbeat Trust (CHT) and leased to the Parish Council.
- Traffic Concerns on A4300: A resident expressed concerns about the speed of vehicles on the A4300. While the Parish Council acknowledged that this issue lies outside their direct jurisdiction, they agreed to contact Highways to convey the resident’s worries. The Council noted an increase in speeding on the A4300, possibly due to the reduced presence of heavy goods vehicles since the construction of the link road. Efforts will be made to explore available traffic calming measures.
- Blocked Footpath in Little Oakley: Reports of an overgrown footpath and a locked gate obstructing the pathway in Little Oakley were brought to the Council’s attention, who will now seek a volunteer to serve as a Footpath Warden.
