FOTC seeks Volunteers to support our Village Church

The Friends of the Church (FOTC) are on the lookout for enthusiastic community members to join their efforts in preserving one of Geddington’s most cherished landmarks – the Church of St. Mary Magdalene.

The registered charity is made up of local residents who may not necessarily attend church services but are united by their love for the village and a desire to see its historic church building survive.

The FOTC’s mission is clear: “To maintain, repair, restore, and preserve the church and its surroundings for the benefit of the public.” This dedicated group not only focuses on the upkeep of the church but also contributes to the vibrancy of our village through various events and activities.

A Chance to Make a Difference

FOTC is calling for new volunteers who feel passionately about supporting the community. Do you have a few hours each month to spare? Your involvement could range from helping to organise events to simply lending a hand at one of their monthly meetings. The charity emphasises that you don’t need to be a churchgoer – just someone who cares about the community and wants to make a positive impact.

Past Successes and Upcoming Events

FOTC has a history of bringing our village together through unique fundraisers like “Loopy Day,” where participants did all sorts of crazy things around the village, and the ever-popular “Great Geddington Garage Sale,” one of the first of its kind in the area. These events not only raise essential funds for the church but also create memorable experiences that strengthen community bonds.

Now, FOTC is gearing up for more events and is eager to welcome fresh faces to join in the fun. Some of the upcoming events include:

  • 11th October – Get ready for a thrilling Murder Mystery event.
  • 11th January 2025 – Celebrate Twelfth Night with a community gathering.
