Regiment/Service:  Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve – 930 Balloon SquadronThe 900 series of squadron numbers was allocated to Barrage Balloon units of the Auxiliary Air Force. 930 (Hampshire) was formed in Jan 1939, through to December 1943. There were 3 ‘Flights’ of 8 Balloons in Southampton, and had 50 (10 Waterborne) Balloons in August 1940.

    The grandfather I never got to meet, apparently I’m a spitting image, used to make my auntie cry when she saw me, ‘never forgotten’.
