Continuing a Geddington Tradition – May Day Bread & Food Bank Donations

The Sir Robert Dallington Charity has a proud history of distributing loaves of bread to the people of Geddington—a tradition that echoes the spirit of our village’s May Day bread custom. While the origins of May Day bread are separate from the Charity, both traditions share a common thread of community, generosity, and heritage.

For many years, the May Day bread was distributed by the Church overseers—a custom that has been lovingly upheld by community volunteers, even in the absence of a village bakery.

This year, the trustees of the Dallington Charity warmly invite all residents and friends of the village to join us in keeping this tradition alive.

Where: Bottom of Bakehouse Hill, Geddington

Alongside the symbolic giving of bread, the Charity is proud to partner with Kettering Food Bank. We’ll be both collecting and making donations, and we welcome any contributions you’d like to bring along.
