Parish Council Minutes – September 2025

The September meeting of Geddington, Newton & Little Oakley Parish Council took place on Monday 8 September 2025 in the Village Hall. Thirteen members of the public attended, along with representatives from Boughton Estates and Grace Homes.

Main topics discussed included:

  • Traffic and Speeding – Ongoing concerns about speeding on the main road. Speed sensors have already been installed and the data will be requested from North Northants Council. A discussion on speed radars will be added to the October agenda.
  • Tree Maintenance – Reports of overgrown trees on Kettering Road; some may be the responsibility of Boughton Estates. The recent tree survey identified around £9,200 of work required, with £7,000 recommended within six months.
  • Boughton Estates Updates:
    • Oakley Bush Solar Scheme
    • Housing Development off Kettering Road
    • Improvements planned for the footpath up The Chase.
  • Play Area Responsibility – Clarification being sought after NNC stated they are no longer responsible for maintaining the equipment installed in 2010.
  • Village Hall – With the Playgroup closing, the Council noted the loss of income to the Hall. Grants will be explored for a new cycle rack, and Cllr A Storey was appointed as the Parish Council representative on the Village Hall Committee.
  • Environment & Footpaths – Regular footpath inspections are planned every three months. Work was agreed to clear vegetation and brambles around the recreation field and tidy trees overhanging benches and paths.
