The First Quiz Of The Year was last night at The Star Inn Geddington. The Quiz Cup was sent away to be professionally polished, with a final buff from Gordon.
12 teams competed with over 70 Quizzers present. The charity was for Cancer Research and Jane Tysoe admirably ‘worked the crowd’ so to speak, to raise £221 for cancer funds. She also raised £14 for little pin badges.
And the winner was NFN with 84 points with a heart achingly close Queen Street Runners with 83.
Third equal was Geddington Goers and Loose Women with 81 points.
Two new teams joined us and various teams had new team names , just to sharpen my wits ! I hope they come again .
Next Quiz Night is on Tuesday 11th February and is in aid of The Samuel Lees Charity. Leaflets ,I’m sure, will be on each table to explain the more than 300 year old Charity in Geddington .
By the way, Gordon was not IN the buff when final polishing the Quiz Cup , but was buffing it up, eg, polishing it. This is an old cup-polishing term. The majority of Quiz Teams were underwhelmed which begs the question, why to go to so much effort! Because Gordon is PROFESSIONAL !
