Quiz Night Showdown at The Star!

Wow! What a tense time at The Star at Quiz Night! It was a night like a scene from High Noon (starring me as Grace Kelly and Gordon as Gary Cooper).

Lots of teams had extra young colts, fresh back from University showing their knowledge. Geddington Goers had a secret weapon, daughters of Steve Brown, the Birthday Boy.

15 teams were ready to do battle to get their hands on the sacred Trophy. 85 Quizzers ready for the fight.

Impossible as it sounds, I was not infallible, and gave the incorrect answer to how the Levy-Shoemaker Comet crashed. I can only think that Gordon was making tea and I was in the toilet when the comet crashed into Jupiter. Only explanation . Thank you, Stoity Twange for pointing it out to me. I will be always grateful. Yes, REALLY grateful.

The winners were Geddington Goers with 83 points. Well done Steve, a very fitting birthday treat. Second equal was The Topical Team and The Old Bags and with 81points. Fourth equal with 80 points were Queen Street Runners and BBJS.

Apparently BBJS were deeply wounded when I commented on a score of 11 points in the first round. Jim is such a sensitive soul, I apologise and will be more diplomatic next time.
Sixth equal were NFN and Carol and Co with 79 points.

We raised £237 for Guide Dogs For The Blind who even brought two delightful animals to pet!!

Next Quiz is on Tuesday 18th November and is in aid of a new charity: the group that is trying to build a museum dedicated to American 384th Bombardment Group at Grafton Underwood. They are very enthusiastic and bringing 3 teams! Please give them a warm welcome.

It means that we will be VERY crowded. PLEASE book your teams AND NUMBERS. I don’t think we can accommodate extra numbers by just turning up.

Let’s make it a welcoming and friendly event.
