On Saturday 7th September 2024, from 9:30am to 2:00pm, the charming village of Geddington will once again host the Great Geddington Garage Sale.
The Great Geddington Garage Sale is more than just an opportunity to clear out unwanted items or snag a bargain. The event began in 2012 as a creative fundraising effort by the Friends of the Church and has since become a fixture on the village calendar, drawing buyers from Geddington and beyond. It is also a welcome opportunity for some of the village charities and organisations to raise much-needed funds.
Sellers are invited to participate by donating £5 to the Friends of the Church, with their stalls then added to the official event map, which can be purchased for £1 at the Church or the GVFB stall on the day. This map helps buyers navigate the many stalls scattered throughout the village, offering everything from antiques and collectibles to homemade cakes and crafts. As always, trade stalls are not permitted, ensuring the event remains a true village affair.
In previous years, the Garage Sale has seen over 100 stalls set up across the village, with people coming from nearby towns to enjoy the day. The event has a storied history of success, even inspiring neighboring villages to start their own versions. The funds raised through stall fees, map sales, and various stalls directly support the maintenance of the historic St. Mary Magdalene Church, preserving it for future generations.
Refreshments and toilet facilities will be available at the Church, making it easy for visitors to spend the day exploring the village and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. The GVFB stall by the Eleanor Cross will also have burgers and hot dogs as usual. So, whether you’re a seasoned bargain hunter or just looking for a fun day out, the Great Geddington Garage Sale 2024 promises something for everyone.
