Northampton County Council’s website contains many events to go to and lots of activities to join in. Here are a few for this weekend (and beyond):
1. The Big Friendly Read
The Summer Reading Challenge is to read six library books over the summer and collect special collector cards along the way. When six books have been read, they earn a finisher’s certificate and medal. It’s fun, friendly and best of all FREE! Children can sign up to the Big Friendly Read in their local library any time from 16 July to 10 September and collect their free collector folder.
If you don’t have a library card, you can become a member on the day. You don’t need to bring identification, but under 16s will need parent’s permission.
For more information go to www.northamptonshire.gov.uk.
2. Bikesafe Motorcycle Festival
The one-day festival will be held at Rockingham Circuit in Corby, from 10am to 5pm. It costs £1 at the gate with under 14s allowed in free. There are still some places available to take part in an assessed ride on the open road with the Police Advanced Motorcyclists, who will advise on riding techniques. This costs £35 and also includes a chance for participants to ride the circuit on their own bike.
Other attractions include the Dave Coates Stunt Show, and for those who are new to two wheels, the chance to try riding for the first time with the Get On Team. The assessed ride and track experience can be booked by emailing bikesafe@kierwsp.co.uk or telephone 08444 151206
Organised by Bikesafe and Northamptonshire Highways, the Bikesafe event is a police-led motorcycle initiative. For more information go to www.northamptonshire.gov.uk.
