Late spring and it’s May Day again, with flowers, songs, May Queen, Consort, attendants, dresses, costumes, Maypoles, parents, teachers, chairs, sunshine (no rain!) and the Eleanor Cross.

How do other schools cope with a crowning, without such an iconic backdrop that our Eleanor Cross provides? With difficulty, has to be the answer! This year’s traditional May Day met all expectations with Ifeloluwa crowned as May Queen, by Mrs Doreen Worsdell. Ifeloluwa was accompanied by her Consort, James, and 14 attendants.

The headmaster, Martin Adamson, when introducing Mrs Worsdell, announced that she had completed 30+ years as caretaker and was taking a well-earned retirement later this year. The programme follows by name on each image:

The modern May Day celebrations at Geddington School have been in existence since 1951. Geddington.net has been attempting to list all the May Queens, their Consorts and attendants, and those who crowned them. We haven’t managed to name them all.

Can you help? Can you fill in some of the blanks on our list please?
