The Star Inn has been taken on by the Tracey family who will be signing a 20 year lease shortly.
Joanne and Vaughan Tracey met in the Star some 35 years ago and have a sentimental connection with the pub having celebrated a number of individual and family events there particularly in their early years together.
The family, together with son James, is a business in its own right. They have turned their hands to a number of business projects over the years and currently run a successful carpet and dry cleaning business. Although their experience in the pub and catering trade is not extensive Joanne and Vaughan spent a number of years in the United States running a bar and food outlet.
Joanne says: “The Star came on the market at just the right time, we wouldn’t have taken on any other pub, but we were looking for an investment opportunity. It is sad that the pub has become so dilapidated and we want to bring it back to its former glory”.
James explained: “We are looking to introduce à la carte and bar menus of good traditional English food, sourced locally, with proven provenance; a gastro pub.” A new chef has been recruited who is looking to give the Star a reputation for good quality, value for money food.
Roof repairs have been completed with significant improvements already made to the bar area, with more to follow for the rest of the pub.
The Traceys want the Star to be a family pub mentioning the introduction or reintroduction of family entertainment: quizzes, bands, skittles, darts and pool.
Customers spoken to by Geddington.net have said Vaughan is maintaining high standards with the beer.
Here’s to the future with the Star playing its full part at the centre of the village!!
